Following the adoption of new regulatory models in the United Kingdom and Australia, numerous discussions are presently underway in several Canadian provinces as to whether lawyers should practice law in “alternative structures” not currently allowed under applicable law, including corporations owned by non-lawyers. The aim of this project is to examine the arguments in support of these models and their real and potential impact on the practice of law and the behaviors and values of lawyers.
